'nother soft top Q

Post by Peetee »

How many pop studs do you have to secure the hood along the side window frame? I seem to have two each side but there are more than four in the bag of fixtures that came with the new hood.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

studs

Post by Willie »

I have one at the top of the 'B' pillar window frame and I believe there should be one on the inside at the bottom rear of the side window which I have never needed.

Cheers. That corresponds with Albert. I was curious to see if the number of studs was added to in later years as (despite the fact the hood is new, tight and fits like a glove) it would appear that another stud halfway around the rear window surround would probably improve the draft resistance.

I guess the additional studs must be provision for the hood bag but I could only guess how that is arranged.

hood bag

Post by Willie »

The hood bag has a 'lift-a-dot' fitting at each bottom rear corner of the rear window and two press studs each side where it covers the folded
hood frame inside the car. There are also two further 'lift-a-dots' on the bottom edge outboard of the boot hinges. (page 24....'Original Morris Minor').
