I see that the Great book is reborn.

"Ray Newell's definitive and unsurpassed guide to originality for the Minor, Original Morris Minor, is available again" Full details are in the current issue of Minor Matters.

T and C, for you Jon

You agree not to post any commercial, advertising or business information, other than in the For Sale/Wanted section, where you agree that you are not a trader or business and are not acting for or on behalf of any member of the trade or business.

So I'd say it was against, but I'm sure that this will be made an exception
:o :-? :D

I had an ancient and very dog-eared copy of this book on almost permanent loan from my local library, until the book fell to bits...

I do not intend to reopen the old discussion but, a member cannot advertise their OWN goods or services on the forum expecting to receive any form of reward. Roger's post notifying us of the book (he himself having no link to Ray Newell or the sale of the book) is more of a news item. However, I have sent a PM to Roger asking that he edit the post so that it fits better with the T&Cs.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

Fair enough, and I must say a refreshing approach to sensible moderation, I hope that this new method is adopted across the board in the future. :D

but the web editor has stated that this book will be available when they get some, through the club
surely this is advertising the sale of the book for financial gain to the club

I'm not certain how much revenue the club gets from the sale of goods available elsewhere (e.g. the Presnell book) but I have already emailed Jon to alert him of your worries.

Can you explain that statement.

Umm ... if the club cant post on it's own website for it's own financial gain then I think that there is something wrong here.

I'm a paid-up, card-carrying member of the MMOC, and anything that can go to avoiding increasing the annual fees is a GOOD THING imo.

FFS stop being so ped-ant-ic :p

Thats right as the author he cant advertise his own book, but anyone else can exactly the same as anyone can quote parts from suppliers that they have no financial interest in.

Russ I dont know where the reference to not mentioning articles in Minor Matters came from I dont see how that breaks the T & C unless it involved direct advertising, any chance of a PM.

so we are all a greed that the ray newel book may enhance the club funds when the mmoc sell it, as was mentioned by the web editor.
well i for one have to say that despite many arguments and i will not back down on this, that russell harvey has done more for the morris minor commercial or lcv than anyone i know of.
he has almost single handedly and without exception taken a lot of flack, but he has done so much for our little vans that i see no reason why his book can not be mentioned, by him or by others.
there are many that dont no of the excistance of his 2 books.

how many moderators have done this for the cars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i personally feel its about time the terms and conditions were revamped

i have no personal gain from russ harveys book, but would recomend to anyone and not just van owners

without the likes of russell much information would go uncollected.

also lets not forget the 50 th anniversary that he took on and organised through thick and thin, so

come on lets lighten the terms ands conditions a bit
