OK, got the minor home & boy does it look rough! brush paint & bodge seem to be holding most of the wings together & while i was underneath sorting the gear change/clutch adjustment i could see daylight through the o/s front floor pan!
the brakes worked-ish driving it on & off the trailer, but now the pedal goes to the floor.
i want to get the car mot'd asap & use it in the winter (a ZX12R ninja isnt too good on the wet slippery stuff we get up here)

so i'm looking at a master cyl repair kit, pipes & cylinders to start with.
anyone recommend a disc brake upgrade? i have heard you can use marina bits? whats involved?
also looking for a bigger engine, ford x-flow seems easy to get a hold of, would love a fiat twin cam as i used to have a 131 2000tc sport but cant seem to find engines at a price i think they're worth.
also can anyone point me in the direction of fibreglass bonnet, boot & wings?
have got the know-how to make my own, but its a lot easier to buy them.
cheers

I wouldn't buy a master cylinder repair kit until you've taken it apart and checked the condition of the bore. If it's rough/worn new seals won't last very long at all.

Devilpaint,
although the FIAT twin cam is an excellent engine, I have one in my Morris. These engines are getting pretty old now and any second hand unit will require a rebuild. Therefore you might be better looking at some of the more modern alternatives e.g. the K series which has been done or my own preference the Vauxhall XE.

Jonathan,
sounds good, any particular reason why, given you already have the K series? Is it an availability issue due to Rover?

Fully re-sprayed my car now so got rid of the horrid paintwork - yippee.

Wal

Wal, yes there is an issue at present obtaining new engines, we only have two left now then thats it, unless going for used.
The Zetec will be a much cheaper conversion, offering 145bhp in standard form and we are able to buy new Focus engines at silly money, so it seems the way to go. They also look very much like the Fiat TC when fitted, plus they are cheaper to extract silly bhp. The company we deal with for ECU's are about to develop the supercharged version with between 260 and 360bhp. :D :D :o

Jonathan,
sounds awesome, I'm impressed and jealous at the same time.

Have you put the Zetec into anyones Minor yet? Supercharging is definitely the way to go, I've been considering doing it to mine but I've heavily invested in the carb route and it's too big a change.

I really love my twincam and I wouldn't want to change it, but deep down I sort of wish I was doing it again. When time and space allows I'll probably have another go with another Moggy.

Any picys of the Zetec conversion?

Regards,
Wal
