I have a Smiths temp gauge.
It didn't come with a sender or a voltage stabiliser.

Couple of questions.

Do I need these parts?

Can I connect this gauge to a standard 'A Series' in-head temp sender? (or make a simple circuit so I can?)

If not, can I get a gauge that will connect straight up to a standard sender? Obviously Minis have them but I need one that's standard size and will 'match' the chrome look of my other SMITHS gauges.

Another question.

Does anyone have the sender and stabiliser for a smiths water temp gauge for sale?

No-one say 'buy new'. Money is tight as usual.

You should be ok using the stabiliser on the back of your speedo to power the gauge. The senders need to be matched ideally so take the gauge down to your local motor factors and ask if they can supply a matching sender unit.

It should work with the standard sender.

May not be spot-on accurate, but it will indicate cold - normal - getting hot - too late! quite adequately .

As said, the stabiliser on the back of the speedo for the fuel gauge will do the job.

As for sender, take a rummage through the boxes - There's most likely one in there somewhere!
