Hio,
I have a 1966 morris minor..... its being fully reconditioned as of now and I am confused with teh color that i want for teh car.... I have decided on teh interiors which would be a combination of dark red and light grey.
also, teh anti-rust that everyone taks about, needs to be applied at what stage of work. If i know this i would be able to follow it with teh workshop.
2nd, how can i make sure that they completely clean teh doors from teh inside..... they don't have sand-blasting facility.
3rd, how could the little pits, left after grinding away teh rust, be cleaned.
4th, is there anyway to tell what they have done under the primer as they have already applied it to tehoutside of teh car.
any advise would be really appriciated as i am paying teh guy through my nose and it suppose to ready for painting in 10 days time.
thanks and regards........ kapil
Colour suggestions!

Is it that you do not trust the bodyshop to do a correct job?
Have you asked them these questions?
To clean the inside of the doors is nigh on impossible unless you shot blast or acid dip them.
The pits left after grinding should be either weld filled or made good with body filler.
You will not be able to tell what work has been performed under the primer unless you remove it. or delay paint for a few weeks to see if it either sinks (evidence of filler) or rust appears (evidence of insufficient work)
If you are paying a lot for this work to be done is it to a pro shop or individual. They should be keeping you informed of all work backed up with pics. If you are unhappy at this stage then postpone the top coat until you doubts have been answered.

Thanks for the inputs. they are very valuable. Its not that I don't trust them, only that I just want to be sure.
My car is getting a diffrent treatment compared to the others the are doing.
Its an individual who owns and runs this pro shop, but he doesn't want to grind teh bottom from the outside or the fenders from indside. Hence the questions....
I did ask them to let me know before moving to the next stage so that I could visit them but they have just been ignoring that.
I have asked them to put fibeglass coat on the inside of all doors, the floor and the boot. is it anygood?
Would he need any special facility for teh acid dip? and i presume this would be phosphoric acid.
Thanks once again, looking forward to your advise once more.
Regards... kapil

Not too sure I understand the work required to the wings and doors. I presume that they are rusty and the bodyshop do not wish to grind out and repair them ?. Repair panels are available at reasonable cost but this is not a cheap job to perform.
I would keep well away from glass fiber on the doors and boot floor.
I think I'd call a halt to all of the work before they go too far. Let them know 'exactly 'how you want the car done, but be prepared to listen to their experience. Come to a definite course of action before carrying on with the project.
Acid dipping should really be done only by official companies really. Downside of both blasting and dipping is that you might be horrified at the results, and resulting work and costs required.

Jonathan, thanks once again.
I visited them today and they have atleast put a sand paper on the inside! the outside is all grinded and cleaned up pretty well.
Now the only thing is about the inside of the doors.... I spoke to them about the acid dip and they said that they would pour the acid on the inside and do a wash.
The fiber glass coat is quite a popular sealing method here with some of the leading restorers and they charge quite a bit fo rit. i have also seena few other shells where its been done, standing out in teh open for about 2-3 years without even a hint of rust even though they have not been painted.
what other kind of rust prevention method could you suggest? they have been suggesting a rubber seal after the painting process have been completed. I had got this done earlier but was not happy with the results.
I am based in Delhi, India and the weather here is quite extreme. ( I am sure you would know that already!) Would that have any role in the corrosion?
I have kind of decided on the colour as well. most of teh car would be a dark grey- metallic and a small angular area, along with the lines on teh side at teh back, would be silver grey; mettalic. The inside ofcourse is light grey felt roof and dark red carpet. The seats a combination of grey surrounded by the dark red. door trims a combination of same and teh steering I am changing from teh orignal black to teh light grey as on inside.
Please do let me know what you think of same.
Thanks & regards...........kapil

Amazed at the glass fiber treatment with leading restorers. With the climate and temp changes you have over there I'm surprised that it one sticks and two doesn't encourage corrosion. What happens if a panel requires welding a given time after the glass has been applied, must be a nightmare to remove. Still if its a proven method... Colour sounds interesting, so post some pics when finished. Try and keep in charge of the project and make sure that the work is performed to both your wishes and standard.
