Sorry to disagree slightly but wasnt that regarded as one of the worst cars ever built, not that I know anything about US metal either.

I don't like yanky cars either Kevin, but I think you might mean Triumph Stags

I had one for just over a year and it was the biggest load of rubbish on 4 wheels

Definately not Mal I think the problems with the Stags was that they were not understood in their current days unlike now when they seem to be as good as any and they seem to have survived in large numbers as there are always a variety at any show I go to.

Could well be, as I have never even heard of this car before, let alone seen one. Looks kind of cool though

I had a Mustang back in the 70's, one of the big block jobs. It would pass everything except a petrol station

Gun it on the motorway and you could watch the fuel gauge drop in real time.

I think the Edsel is regarded as Fords worst failure, they stopped making them after two years as nobody would buy them. Well I spose that makes them rare and collectable then

I'm surprised - it's very, very famous in car world. Couple of links

Well it was very unlikely I would even contamplate buying such a gas guzzler with our petrol prices, but thanks for the warnings anyway.
There's a nice Mustang for sale near me, but again, it's a gas monster
Maybe I'll go for the Aston Martin DB9 Vantage with an LPG conversion

It is a very nice looking car - you could buy it, and use it as a motorhome

Take out the rear seat, and a family of four could live in it.

If you want to know why the car failed- look under the "Design controversies" section of the Wikkipedia Edsel article. I won't quote it here as this is a family read website.

Stick with your instincts! If you want one, get one. 99% of people here in Blighty probably wouldn't even know that it was a Ford let a lone an Edsel.
I've seen the Trabant 601 on many list of '#### cars' however it's best to find out for real. My Trabi is one of the best cars I've ever had and isn't 'made of cardboard' and in terms of 'horrible pollution' it does more than 50mpg on a run.
