OK folks, what do you think of my latest mod ?

Yes I like my toys

Must be difficult to relax with all those dials/lights to worry you!!! I use my Minor as a stress buster! Each to their own though, very neat.

I dunno ... being able to see for sure that the engine is behaving nicely is a lot less stressful than worrying that it might not be!

That was my intention when the gauges went in. Battery meter can even tell you if your brake lights are working (needle dips). Rev counter a must for me, Vacuum gauge good for ecconomy, Temperature a must IMO for a Moggy, and oil pressure.

OK maybe the underdash mood lighting is a bit OTT but at least it lights up the heater controls.

Did this as drivers glove box was tatty, and the passenger side glovebox lid had a dent in it

it would be nice to know how u did the wood effect.
is it just sticky stuff
and how does the drivers side stay shut?

I've seen a few like this where the panels/doors have been solid wood, shaped to match the original metal jobs.

Looks very nice. Not sure about all those lights and the TV though...

Both pieces are made from solid timber, just used the old metal panels as the template. Drivers side is fixed with brackets under the dash, and two mirror chrome headed screws to keep the top flush.

TV That be my Sat Nav, mainly used as speedo as the actual speedo needs a recalibration.

A few other things worth mentioning. The instrument bulbs have been replaced with high output green LEDS, to save taking everything to bits to change blown bulbs. The panels are made from Homebase Shelving

I hear what you say, my point was, if you have a dial in front of you the chances are you are always drawn to it! if it's not there you are not looking for a problem, granted you may not know until it's too late( although the lights in the speedo seem a good enough warning on a Minor) you avoid stress until something does happen, ( but again it doesn't on these cars) Well that's my take on it. I drive another vehicle with more than enough indicators and I know which one I relax in. Apart from the seats!

I like it, nice bit of craftsmanship there!

Im very tempted to do something similar, probably and oil pressure guage, vacuum gauge and a temp gauge!
