convertible question

I've all but completed the fitting of Alberts hood following the instructions in the very good (for a change) Haynes restoration manual. It's all gone very well.
But.....

What do I do with this very strangely shaped end to the weather strip at the front? it has a deliberately shaped and stamped edge so it 'should be' this shape but it looks a bit odd to me.

Hi Peetee, it looks like the end in question is a bit too long, I had the same situation and reshaped the whole strip, the end result should look like so...

OK let's do this the Haynes way

1: 1st post asks what the extra flappy bits are for
2: Kev makes a jibe about a flying helmet, but no other information given.
3: Information supplied by helpful chap who has had the same problem, and who in turn, make a little jibe about Kev

Exlpoded View: Kev is a moderator

So if you wear a flappy eared flying helmet, and are not a moderator, then your new hood aint gonna fit, unless it's Tuesday and a full moon.

If however you are a moderator, and make a little joke (always welcome) but don't instantly know how the problem is fixed, then if it's any other day bar a full moon tuesday, then 2 + 2 = 5 and you are on a sticky wicket.

I don't believe it could really. It's purpose is to hang down from the wooden rail and act as a spray/weather shield.

I fashioned mine so that they formed a triangle the outer edge of which
sits in the vertical windscreen rain channel. This directs the rain into that channel and I have never had a leak so far.

Peetee, here pic of my corner style. There is no doubt that a more upswept corner looks more elegant but this arrangement has been totally leak proof on my hood.
