hi there, my clock is positive earth, my car is negative(yes i have a knack of doing this, ie-rev counter!) anyone know if its simple to get it working, or should i just get the insides cut out and changed for quartz?

Can't you isolate it from the car and just wire it in the right way round.

is that not mildly dangerous?

It would only be dangerous if it were badly isolated, so long as there is no possiblity of the +ve clock body coming into contact with the -ve bodyshell you should be reet

Just fit a low amp in line fuse for extra safety with the reversed polarity. A clock only draw a few milliamps so an inline fuse holder from Maplin or Haldfords fitted with a 100ma fuse will keep you safe.
