Where do you buy your tyres ?

Hubby's sent me on a mission to track down four new 145/14 radials for the MOT in a few weeks.
I'd like them at the cheapest possible price

Bull Motif isn't displaying any prices, but have emailed them.
Also emailed etyres and Black Circles.

Where else should I be looking ?

They are a trade stockist really, but my local one doesnt seem to mind the odd cash sale ;)

Still, those ESM prices are pretty good!

i got some bridgestones from bull motiff at under 65 delivered you will have to add on fitting as well.i think the cheaper tyre are camac i had one put on last year as i had a puncture,i think i paid about 25 pounds.

Bull Motif, and the last ad I saw of theirs gave free delivery for four tyres. My local fitter charged £20 to fit and balance the last four.

I just stick 155s on. Local Tyre place does em for just over £20 each.

Yes 155's are fine but nothing wider than that, or you risk the tyre rolling off the rim in corners

155s are a whole lot better than skinny wee 145s! Ask around at your local tyre/exhaust places for a best deal - otherwise you may have trouble/get ripped off for fitting tyres you buy elsewhere and pay carriage charges of course. Well worth paying a few pounds extra to have them fitted locally - and you can go back if there are any problems.

I disagree- I actually find the Minor feels much nicer to drive with skinny 135 tyres. Sadly, this size is no longer available and I'm down to my last pair on the front where they give a superb feel to the steering.

BMC what a load of rubbish, the 155s are too wide for the standard rims which are only 3 1/2 " The 145X14" are actually WIDER than the widest tyres ever fitted by the factory to the WIDE VAN WHEELS and the factory knew what they were doing.

Completely agree with Willie on this one - the traders sell 155's for wide van rims (4.5"), yet people take that to mean they are correct for saloon rims (3.5") - they are not.
If you want to check that yourself, ask a tyre company if they would recommend a 155 tyre for use on a 3.5" rim (no). Some may even tell you that using a tyre outside of its recommened application could have legal implications.
155's are often used and generally work ok, but I've never found them to be as good as 145's as the excessively bent sidewall gives too much cornering wander.
My first Minor had 135's and I also wish you could still get them.

Overider. Best to go with the 145 s since you cannot buy the 135 s any way. The precise difference between a standard wheel and the LP917
wider wheel is 34mm ( 1+9/32").The outer rim is only 15mm further out but the inner rim is 19mm further in. Even with such a large increase in width a narrower tyre than the 145 was considered correct by the factory.

Factory was 135R14 but now due to availability it's 145R14 with normal profile size

Peetee, I am using LP917 wheels and, because I had a nearly new set
available I fitted them with the 145X14" Firestones which had been on the standard Minor rims. There was a noticeable improvement due,I am
sure to the fact that the tyres now have practically straight side walls
i.e. no bulge (at 26 psi). As I have said 145 s are still wider than the
5-60X14 which the factory fitted to the LP917 s. I am probably the only living person who has fitted 145 s to van wheels but they perform very well! I suppose that most people who fit the wider wheels have also upped the performance so they can certainly accept 155 s.
