i adjusted the brakes on the mog the other day did the frount ones fine.when i came to do the rears the snail cam is right on the limit,although the shoes seem to have a fair bit of meat on them.the top shoe has hardly any were on it .the one you adjust still looks quite good but it wont lock the drum with the screw.is it a easy job for someone with limited skills to replace the brake shoes on the rear.thanks dale.

Could be worn - or wrong - snail adjusters. I have found they sometimes jam - have a look with the drum off and you will see if something is fouling. If the shoes are not worn too badly (even if the drums are a bit worn) it should be possible to get them adjusted up. Also make sure the hydraulic cylinder is free to slide up and down in the mount on the backplate. But at the end of the day - if you decide to fit new shoes, then yes - it's easy. Just note how it looks before you start - maybe take a picture for reference.

Not difficult to replace the rear brake shoes. If you have a digital camera, snap a few pics of how the return springs are fitted.

The reason the adjuster snail cams are not taking the shoes out far enough, could be due to pattern wheel cylinders being fitted. I've seen cars with small packing shims between the cam and cylinders to fix this.
