Dizzy to Carb timing advance - the actual tube

just noticed on old scabby that the aforementioned tube doesn't seem right.
it starts off as a clear plastic tube for less than 2 "s at both the carb and the dizzy. But in between its a microscopic black plastic tube which the O/D of seems to fit snugly in the I/D of the clear plastic stuff.
Is this correct? or do i need to replace the whole thing with a tube of the same bore right through (fish tank airline pipe springs to mind) ?

All 4 of mine are like that Kevin and they all work perfectly well.

As long as the tube is not blocked or gone 'soft' so it collapses with the vacuum - try sucking through it (blow first to clear any gunge!) and if clear - then block one end and suck again to see if it collapses.

Cheers chaps - it looks pretty new so presume it went on with the new engine 5k ago or new dizzy 4 k ago, thought worth asking though as keep finding shortcuts mechanically and things not done correctly.
to the untrained eye looked like the clear might have been damaged/old/melted and a conveniently fitting incorrect bit was bodged in.
Well thats a relief one less thing to do :-)

The actual fittings are meant to be hard rubber. The one that fits onto the dizzy advance vacuuum unit is straight, the one at the carb end has a 90 degree bend in it. A lot of mechanics tend to use small bore clear plastic tubing for these fittings, but it can go soft and collapses due to petrol vapour inside it.

ESM do have the correct fittings, but I think it's the complete vacuum line, with tube and the end pieces, not expensive though. Part Number is VAC101E
