Need help finding Oil Filter Conversion kit

Hi there, I am looking for a solution to a problem for my Rover P4 Cyclops. It has an oil filter similar to the Morris minor 803 engine.
It screws into the block with a 3/8"x20 threaded nipple. it is a canister type oil filter that is sealed.
I cannot find this type of oil filter anywhere. It is a WIPAC E3 oil filter, similar to the Austin A40 E2 filter and the Morris Minor 803 type oil filter.
I am told that there is a common spin-on oil filter conversion kit that is sold for the Morris Minor 803, however the one supplier I found on the internet had NO IDEA how to check the thread size and get back to me.
Can SOMEONE PLEASE tell me what the thread type is for the Morris Minor 803 engine, or please help me find:
Wipac E3 filters
Oil filter Conversion kit
Another oil filter that will work.
thanks
Kevin

Have you tried the P4 owners club forum? They can be found here.

Thanks

yep, tried Bull Motif, and they cannot supply me with a thread size.
They have a conversion kit, but cannot tell me what the thread size is.
SO, I bought a screw in GUD filter for the Morris 803 today, they are mailing me that. This way, I can see if the filter works on my car, and if it works, then I can order the conversion kit.
But, if there are any people who know for sure what the thread size is for the 803 conversion kit, the bit that screws into the block, that would be most helpful.
thanks

Pretty sure the 'conversion kits' are not suitable for the 803 engine which has a simple screw in 'bypass' filter. The later 948 engine had a proper full flow filter which is supplied with oil via a pipe from the oil pump - this is the system that can be converted to a screw-on filter using basically parts fitted to later Mini versions of the engine. There is no way to do this with the 803 engine - however - your P4 engine may well be different - I have no idea!

here is the conversion kit I was speaking of:

It is part number SS103:
Part No: SS103
803cc Filter Conversion Kit*Inc Filter* (Converts 803cc Filter To Later Spin On Oil Filter)**DEVELOPED AND MANUFACTURED BY BULL MOTIF DUE TO THE INCRE...
If you go to the above link, and click on search, do a search for "conversion", and this kit pops up on the second page I think.
let me know what you think.

Can't see it - but - if as it says 'converts 803 etc' - then indeed if an 803 filter fits your P4 -then this kit should work for you! Hadn't heard of it before. But - are 803 type filters not available any more (sure I saw some on ebay v recently) - otherwise I don't see the point in it!

yep, says for 803, so I am hoping

Seems like the original type filters are getting harder to find. Also, seems like a good upgrade to a more modern filter type, easier to obtain a modern filter than it is an NOS one.
thanks

Indeed - but each filter should last you a fair while - just change the oil regularly.

agreed

Agreed, the only thing is that this car has been dormant for over 30 years, and lord knows what was in that filter!
Found three NOS Wipac filters in the UK, paid for them, and the seller sent them to Canada instead of USA....and I have NO idea why. Needless to say, they were his last ones, which put me at square one with a 30yr old filter.
Now I have an 803 type GUD filter on the way from a Morris Minor spares specialist, and if that works, then I am ordering the conversion kit so I can be free of trying to find these filters!

thanks so much for the help, and wish me luck with my filter!

Great, a thread size, I am that much closer, but I cannot seem to find a good conversion chart from BSF to the size I am looking for.

3/8 x20 is what I am looking for.....what does 7/16 BSF translate to?
thanks so much for your help

cheers

Do you mean you're looking for a BSF thread form with 3/8" OD and 20TPI? 7/16 BSF is 18 TPI and 3/8 BSF is 20 TPI. Thread angle on all BSF threads is 55 degrees.

thread size

So, do you know the exact thread size of the filter thread for the 803 Morris filter?
thanks
