Hi
I am fitting the ford 5 speed gearbox in my new project
can any one tell me who produces the modfied gearlever so you do not have to cut back your handbrake to stop it fouling the gearlever
Regards Dave

I'm about to fit a 5 speed Sierra box so, can anyone post a picture of the modified gear lever because , possibly, I could mod myself
Many thanks

Does somebody sell one? I've yet to see one, either for sale or on a car

Moggyt,
whilst this is for the MGA, will the gear stick be the correct shape for the Minor. I believe JLH sell the correct item, if they do it will be correct

Best to ask the supplier to be 100% sure. I did see a car with this mod a few years back at a show (moggy with Sierra 5 speed) and the gear lever was from the MGA kit.

The alternative is to move the handbrake lever backwards, which I what I did. quite simple: make new mounting bracket and weld to tunnel, file the holes for the cable to accept new cable angle; and fit shorter cables - supplied by Morris Minor Centre Birmingham and JLH (and possibly others as well). I'm not saying that this is the best way for everyone, but for me it makes the car really comfortable to drive.

Could you not heat the standard ford gearstick helf in a vice and take most of the kink out? (God I'm tight

Don't see why not. In this policaly correct World the less 'Kinky' the gearstick the better

Don't see why not. The shape of a gearlever is basicaly set to give the best lever position for the car it was designed for. Provided the bend doesn't cause an awkward shift pattern it should be ok.
