Can anyone tell me what the current situation is for availabilty of cellulose paint?

I will soon be needing 3-4 litres of Trafalgar Blue for my 68 2dr. I'm in Poole Dorset so does anyone know a local supplier or even a non-local who will ship the paint?

Can still be bought - no great problems. Some Helllfrauds branches do it - but probably not the cheapest place!
carpaint.co.uk will sort you out.

i get mine from Jawel in the midlands
they ship around the country so might be worht a try if no joy locally

the only problem i've found is because the pigment colours are getting really rare now the colour never exactly matches so be prepared to spray the whole car

it's better to have too much than not enough and need some more its a lot more expensive buying 1 lt @ £23 than 5lt @ £95

but they do know the colour codes straight off but there are 2 traf blues :)

Is there a brown brothers near you? They usually supply paint. Used to be one in Dorchester but they're long gone now. :(

OK, I guess I'm lucky because mine is about a mile away from my house and does a really good job of mixing the right colours. Cellulose was about £22 A LITRE same price as above.

There is a really good (going on the word of a friend) paint supplier in either Poole or Bournemouth. Can't tell you the name as I use the people 5 mins down the road from me. But my point here is, you do have a supplier in the Poole area so you won't be wasting your time looking. I will try and find out from my friend but no promises.

Thanks for all the tips. If I can't find a local one, carpaint.co.uk looks like they will be able to help.

There was a local supplier i used some years ago called Paint shop supplies but I went there the other day and found no sign of them! There was a Brown bros too and I think they're still there so i'll check them out, even if they don't sell it they might know someone!

I was going to suggest Brown Bros (used them many years ago) - but when I Googled for them - nothing ! So I don't know if they still exist.

In Kent at least, they are now known as Partco or Unipart- incidentally a great place to buy chassis black paint! £18 for 5 litres!!!!! No need to paint your cars underside with Hammerite.

Well just to update anyone else who is looking for Cellulose paint in the area, i finaly bought some from Rainbow paints on the Ferndown industrial estate. 5L of thinners, 3L Trafalgar Blue, 1L Primer filler for a little under £100.
About average price I thought!

As a matter of interest, how much would you need for a colour change?

imho, 7.5 to 10 ltrs, bearing in mind the need to touch-up in the future with the same shade/batch, and the fact that it is getting difficult to buy.
This should cover inside the car as well.
