The practicality of a splitscreen

Hey, Calling out to those of you who have owned and driven splitscreen moggys.
I'm wanting a 4-door car to modify slightly for everyday driving (eventually, Im only 16 at the mo) but as I've already got a 1000 2-door I thought of getting a series II 4-door just to be different, basically all I want to know is how practical will a splitscreen be for everyday driving? would it just be a pain or would I not even notice the big line down the middle?

I used to drive a splitty Land Rover and it wasn't a problem at all. The rubbish windscreen wipers and demister were a much worse impediment to vision.
I'd be more concerned about brakes, engine, indicators, etc. if considering using a SII everyday in modern traffic.

I'd imagine a split front windscreen would be quite a good safety feature.
If a stone hits the passenger side it won't affect the driver. Of course theres a 50% chance it'll hit the drivers side.
Only thing that would annoy me is the tiny rear windows these cars have.

Splitscreens are a lot nicer
I use my 55 2dr splitscreen as my daily driver, but she does have a 1098 engine and, sadly, flashing indicators too

No the flashing indicators are a good thing... there are many people out there who wouldnt understand the old type you people have on S2's and MM's, i think flashing indicators are a safer bet really

I agree, the flashing brake lights are worrying enough when trying to overtake on a busy motorway; trafficators would be a nightmare.

Having had a few SII's I'd say the only practicality issue is the windscreen wipers. In standard (worn out) condition they were close to useless.

my splitty is my daily driver. again, like onne, its got a 1098 in it, but i love it. visibility shouldn't be an issue! you do get used to the small rear window, and the front split is barely noticeable...to you...everyone else notices it, which is nice! but thats just me(but i'm 21, so we're pretty close age difference!!)
