Hi Martina

The Midlands Regional Rally is being held at Abbey Pumping Station in conjunction with their Past Times Steam Day. 3 of the 4 beam engines will be in steam & the Leicestershire Museum of Technology which is based there will be displaying their range of vehicles which include a couple of Steam Rollers & some vintage buses. The museum also houses exhibitions on public health & early cinema. There is also a narrow gauge railway running around the site.

The Morris Minor Rally will have trophies for the best vehicles in each class and there is also Concours judging - an attendance plaque will be issued to every entrant. There will be a couple of spares stalls, some club regalia for sale and a Tombola & 2nd hand stall with proceeds going to Rainbows Childrens Hospice.

Entrance is £5 per car which gets everybody in to nearly everything (steam train ride is extra - £1 approx)

Please come & visit us - you will be made very welcome - anyone can pay on the gate but please let me know what car you are coming in so we can plan out the site.

The link below gives more details about the site, anything else please ask.

What time is the rally starting please? I's like to get there a little bit early to avoid a scramble for a parking space.

Rally starts at 1000 approx - the site will be open from about 9 and I will be there then. If you get there early you may be roped in to help put up the branch gazebo

Okay, but be warned - last time I tried to put up a gazebo, I managed to tie myself up into knots, almost literally, with the material! I'm that cack-handed, you wouldn't believe it unless you saw it.

And another nice day on the cards. Looking forward to seeing lots of us there!
I'll wear my SSBB Tee Shirt to celebrate and have made some fruit cake. You might be interested to know that I boiled the dried fruit in tea and mixed spice before I made the cake!

That’s if I make it, my dog thinks I made the cake for him and has threatened to assault me if I try and leave the house with it!

I may just make a cake as well, then - got loads of cherries off the tree this year, an excellent crop.

And I may have some old bits 'n' bobs to sell too, if anyone's interested - nothing special, just a few small used parts, I'll dig them out later, plus maybe a seat, an unidentified piece of Traveller wood (still in packaging, I think, though rather old) and a Peugeot spare wheel, suitable for a 205 - plus some miscellaneous items. Going very cheap, I'll accept offers on individual bits when I get there. :)

Just dug out the box of stuff I'm taking - there's a fair bit in there, nothing exceptional and I'm not asking for a fortune, just a donation to my CBT fund. From memory (as it's all packed away in the car ready to go), there are; a number of Traveller back door hinges (in black), what appears to be an old jack (not sure, maybe someone will enlighten me), a few wing mirrors in serviceable, but far from shiny, condition, a Traveller back door handle (no key), a back door handle mechanism thingy, and some other wotsits. Feel free to come and have a root in the box. There's also the Peugeot wheel, for anyone who has a 205 as a second car (13" rim I believe), and the traveller wood, which may already be spoken for.

It'll be first come first served.

There will be no charge for cake. But once it's gone, it's gone!

As for beards, I generally don't find them attractive, however I've known some very sexy men with beards! :D proving, there are exceptions to every rule. And just where would Brian Blessed be without his beard?! :o

The rally is NOT on the car park but inside the Pumping Station Grounds on grass. Public parking is at the National Space Centre which is next door (accessed from Exploration Drive). Vehicle entrance to the Pumping Station is at the end of Corporation Road.
Head for the big chimney.
