Hi, has any body fit inertia seat belt into a convertible? I am doing it now but it is a four-point belt set up and if I connect the real at floor level to the existing point and the top anchor to the existing point the belt rubs on the rear seat. Therefore, I was thinking of moving the top anchor further forwards towards the doorpost. Its either that or I make a bracket to hold the belt away from the seat. Anybody got any other ideas??:roll:

It depends how tall you are. Moving the upper bracket forwards can cause problems whith the belt slipping down off your shoulder. With my last convertible I fixed the reels to the panel below the rear seat base and the upper bracket slightly forward, on the rear side window support frames.

The reel mounting points for our convertible are a couple of inches forward of the base of the B pillar. This takes the reel itself and the bolt goes through one of the belt ends as well - this second one could be mounted a bit further forward but means more drilling and gives slightly poorer access to the back seat. The upper mounting point is also on the B pillar at waist level and vertically (almost) above the reel mounting.

As the fitting instructions say these should be in vertical alignment I did as Petee suggest and used one the chrome mounting strips and that puts it forward and up about 1.5 inches at 45 degs from the upper mounting point. This gives better clearance for the seat and shoulder but not completely so. I can't say fitting seat belts on a MM is a joy but they are worth it when the job is finished. I kept the old ones as a source of spare washers and collars etc. Good luck, John
