the pm was to contact a minor convertable firm. They said go to halfords and buy some clear glue and stick a patch on. Had tried that and the water soaks past the repair and into the car. So have pulled the patch off and got some aquaseal from a fishing tackle shop. It's used for repairs to waders.both the rubber and fabric type.Put masking tape over the outside of the rip and spread the aqaseal over the inside covering the hole. It dries clear so dosent show through to the outside.very flexable so shouldnt crack. Will have to wait for a downpour to see if it has done the job. Will repost with result, might get the hosepipe out later today to try it.

took the hose to it today soaked the area,no sign of a leak :D :D :D The product is aquasure not aquaseal. by McNett.Just need to do a cosmetic touch up to the outside.Very flexible,it's shown as a urethane adhesive and sealant. Im working on the assumption that if it is designed for fabric type waders it must be tough enough for a hood that only goes up and down a few times a year.On the instructions they state that if u use it on the underside of the waders to sand it whilst wet to make it rough to grip the bottom when wading. If it will stand that sort of use then I'm sure it will do the job.It has dried clear so just a black waterproof marker pen may give a decent cosmetic finish if it will stick to it,we shall see ,at least the drivers seat should now stay dry along with my Y fronts(Giving my age away now)  cheers
