My 1965 Traveller goes round right hand bends well, but on left hand bends the back end seems to be soft and the car rolls (its scary). The offside rear dips down.
The car is perfectly level all round. The off side rear leaf spring is not broken (just dismantled it) Tyre pressures OK. Shocks OK.
Anyone know what could be causing this? Maybe a problem at the front rather than the back?
Many Thanks
Poor handling

Are the spring mountings all secure - and does the car sit level ok ? Have you disconnected the dampers and tried them by hand to see if they really are 'ok' ? Are the rear bump stops present on both sides - maybe one is missing and allowing the car to squat much more on that side. Could be the rear axle is maybe moving under load - better investigate the other rear spring and it's mountings too.

Had a very simular problem! My car was an absolute death trap just because one of the bump stops was missing. Because my springs are worn there wasnt much travel, When the car went over a bumpy surface the axle would travel further the one side causing the car to lean and the back end fling out of control!
It will not be as noticeable with good springs but sounds very much like that! check that they are both securley fixed on and that there is plenty of travel between the bump stop and bodywork.
Hope this helps!

Are radial tyres fitted all round? Many years ago my mums radial tyred Minor had one tyre replaced with a cross ply. When my brother and I took it out later we nearly sent it into a ditch!!
Left hand bends were fine but on right handers we were all over the shop.

Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
