Just been cleaning up my van rear axle and discovered its a bit rotten where the U bolts bolt on. The metal flanges which the u bolts abut have started to rot away. Is this repairable? Secondly, possible got a rear axle of a saloon available, other than the diff ratio, are they the same/interchangable?

Strange place for the rot - the U bolts normally slide over the steel mounting plate for the bump stop - and of course they 'bolt' through the large thick keeper plate underneath the spring. Where is the rot ??

I'm guessing it's the axle perches, and yeah, They do rot there pretty commonly.

Aah, axle perches, thats what they are called, and yes its the sides of these which are rotten. Repairable?

If you can fabricate the part, and trust your welding, yes

Owen Burton used to list these for fitting non standard axles. Don't kow if they're still available. Have repaired one or two myself in the past - its pretty starightforward.
