Does anyone have recommendations for a brand of satnav for a Minor, one which can also be easily switched to another (modern) car? Do I need to fit a cigar lighter, and if so where do I get one from?

I think most of them are powered by a cig lighter socket, so are easily moved from one vehicle to another. A cigar lighter socket is quite easy to install if you know a little about electrics.

Have a look at this topic http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.ph ... ht=sat+nav

Tom Tom One. Easy to use/reliable, and will work for 8 hours on it's own battery before needing a charge.

i'm quite an expert on these as i've had loads of diferent types.

the best one i found over the years and keep going back to is a mio 168 pda.

as the name suggets it's not a stand alone gps its a pda with a built in gps reciever

what i did because i have a few cars is i hard wired the charger into the car but i had 2 of them they are only about £40 each i think and it also has anice little red light on the charger unit so deters thieves at night because they think its an alarm :)

i have various difernet tom tom programs if anyone needs a copy

so if you need any more help just ask but one thing do NOT get any other form of gps software they are all rubbish apart from tomtom

but that is just my opion others might prefer something else

While we're on the subject i was just wondering does the fact that the moggy is made of proper steel make it a bit harder for the sat-nav to get a signal? does it still work fine or do you need to wire it up to an external aerial?
