Supercarry Engine

Are there any details/pics of this particular conversion out there in the wild?

I'm assuming its been done before as its so obvious.

I was playing with a mates supercarry the other day and the engine and box are positively tiny. Lightweight, RWD and very pokey (at least enough to propel a looney in a van way past safe limits   ).

I've no idea about power as those little vans are practically weightless, obviously there'd be some weight penalty in the Morris.

If its never been done - am I missing some obvious reason why its not?

According to Wikipedia, they only have a 970cc 44bhp engine.

Early ones, yes.
Later ones have a 1.3 EFI unit which makes for a very nice drive - at least in the van/pickups it was designed for.

what about a suzuki swift 1300 16valve gti engine and a supercarry gearbox? 101 bhp as standard!

Exactly!

I'm sure I've heard of people stuffing swift engines into their vans so it must be doable..

I'm still waiting for a reply of "Done it" or "Here's some pics" posting. :D

(I'd have a go myself if someone donated the engine, box and halfshaft that I could chop down  )

Edit: Sorry, its a 'Carry' not the super carry. My mistake.
