Front Eyebolt Metal bush

Post by winger300 »

I removed the eyebolt this morning, after knocking back the rear wishbone on its splines, I removed the eyebolt pin which has what the Haynes manual calls the "Spigot pivot (rear)", it appears to be seized to the pin, and badly worn, trouble is I can't find the part number to order a new one. Any hints on what is commonly known as?

ok, but screwed onto that pin is a larger metal "spigot" that slots into the rear lower wishbone, I guess it sits there between the eyebolt pin and the torsion bar.

I have a 1955 Split screen, are these parts any different on a Minor 1000?

It's No. 6 on this diagram,

Looks like they cannot be bought.

The parts will be the same on your Series 11 as on the Minor 1000. I don't think you can get this part new - you can usually reuse the old one - if not contact the usual spares people & ask if they have 2nd hand available.

That's odd isn't it - why does no one sell it ? Anyone with a lathe willing to run a few off?

ok, Since they can't be ordered, I just cut the pin off and grinded down until I could punch it out from the spigot.

It's a little bit scored where it came in contact with the grinder on the face that contacts the bushes. Is this going to cause a problem if I try to reuse it? i.e. excessive wear on the poly bushes.

Should be fine! Did you make a little sketch/drawing of it while it was out ? Just in case some willing soul on here with a lathe is prepared to run a few off.

If you ever need any bits turned up or special nuts or bolts, then search for "Mad Metrics", he's a really helpful guy.
