Can't remember off hand - and it's raining hard at the moment - but as long as there is a resistance (ie it's not zero or infinity) it will work fine !

I have just had my meter recalibrated so this as a good a reading as it comes.
The one on the car that I bought from a main supplier this year 3.4 ohms.
Both of my old spares 3.2 ohms.
Just measure across the two terminals. Pull the wire off one side to so that you get a true reading.

Sounds about right - I did check some coils a couple of weeks ago - the '9 volt' one for use with resistance wire was about 2 ohms, and the standard coils as you say RR about 3.5 ohms. It's really not critical - as long as not ZERO or INFINITY.

thanks folks, I am getting 3.7 ohms primary & 5.51 ohms secondry on my car that I use daily. I have been given access to some coils if I wanted them and I wanted to confirm that they where ok before I take them.
