Gearbox filler funnel

What do people use to fill the gearbox with oil?
I was struggling to get a funnel long enough and most of the plastic orange juice bottles or the like were too wide at the neck. I am not keen to pay a £5 for a proper funnel.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted?

get a small (50p) cooking one (edit :- funnel that is) from the supermarket - appropriate length of clean garden hose pipe goes on end of funnel and into the filler hole :-)

that would actually make just as good a funnel too if you cut the bottom off an empty one - built in spout ! like that one !

For a couple of quid more you can buy the proper tool for the job from machine mart
I bought mine a few years ago and it's sooo easy to use

You paid for it Mal, wouldn't it have been cheaper to use a cover from a glossy magazine, rolled to suit

Me too. I have about 10 of them spare* so if anyone wants one, let me know. The big advantage over a funnel is that they stop filling when you stop squeezing - avoiding most of the mess!

* I didn't buy them - they were empties rescued from the bin at work. I'm too tight to buy oil by the litre, it's cheaper by the gallon!

The hose that came with my petrol can actually fits the filler hole perfectly with barely a milimeter to spare.
An added bonus is the fact its bendy too. :D

The only advantage with the proper tool that I bought is that it sucks the oil from the gallon can and then just squeeze it in the gearbox.. and repeat.. dead easy and worth every penny

joking apart I'm going to get one next time I see one for sale. I hate the rear axle one because you cant see when it is nearly full. So the facility to suck a bit out before it makes a mess would be good.
