I'm trying to follow the Limp Gearstick advice at http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/technica ... earch.html
Can anyone tell me:
1. What is the O RING? Is it the disc at the top of the illustration?
2. Is the selector lever the gearstick?
3. Is the joint the bottom of the gearstick?
4. What is loctite? Halfords sell eight different Loctite products all of which do different things.
Any guidance gratefully received.

You'll need to get an exploded diagram of the gear remote system, thats the best way to find out what everything is. If you cant find one, ill scan the part of my manual and send you the file.
When they say loctite they probably mean Loctite threadlock, which comes in a little bottle. If you cant find it ask one of the Halfrauds employee's!

Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!

Hi Hugh welcome to the site, glad to see your exploring it already.
1. What is the O RING? Is it the disc at the top of the illustration?
No it is the little rubber ring shown at the bottom of the gear stick
2. Is the selector lever the gearstick?
No its the thing that selects the actual gear - not my speciality either!
3. Is the joint the bottom of the gearstick?
Dunno!!
4. What is loctite? Halfords sell eight different Loctite products all of which do different things.
Yes it is loctiite threadlock comes in a little tube or a small plastic bottle. It's a bit like superglue to stop nuts shaking loose ( No don't use superglue!!

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.
Roger,
Thanks for your answers. I'm a bit further forward.
1. I now know what the O Ring is. The "O Ring casing" with its eight bolts remains shrounded in mystery. The only thing with eight bolts that I can see is the huge bit of kit in the illustration that has all of the bolts etc screwed into it. It is impossible to get at the eight bolts without taking the gear box out.
2. So the selector lever is not shown in the illustration. This rather limits the usefulness of the instructions.
3. As does the mystery location of the joint.
4. Thanks. I remember it.
Hugh
