What class is it down as now? Does the V5 show it as being first registered in 1968?

Fenchurch is down on both the V5 and the (free) tax disc as "Not Licensed." I think I need to go in person to the DVLA office over in Preston and get that changed when I renew it next month.

You can only change the tax category on the V5 if the car is taxed or when you are about to tax it (e.g. after getting MOT and insurance).

If they require an official dating certificate (I've not heard of that being required before) then you'll need to contact Rob Thomasson (I presume you are an MMOC member) - his contact details are in the club mag and he deals with these type of things and the V765 scheme on behalf of the MMOC.

The car can be dated based on the chassis number, so I doubt it will be hard to sort that out, however if DVLA do need some paperwork, they will need it from a recognised owners club (e.g. the MMOC)

My experience is its best to go to the local office I had to change colour, engine number and taxation class.

It was all sorted at the desk with no sugestion of an inspection. I think the people that work on the desk have more knowledge than the clerical assistants who answer the postal enquiries.
