The bushes are shot and need replacing with something. Should that something be polyurethane or rubber? Most importantly, why?

poly last longer but being less compressible transmit more vibration and shock to the body, same deal as with the front I guess and all down to personal preference. Although because no one really makes rubber component in quantity anymore the quality is pretty poor more so than with the poly replacements.

Does the extra vibration through the car cause any problems? I guess you just have to make sure that everything that needs to be is tight and it could make the car more tiring on a long journey.

Do you know of good makes of poly bush to try? The kits the Minor suppliers sell don't have any brand names on.

The ones I had put in the front are from ESM, did not have any quality issues with them.

My front one are from them, and seem OK so far. I think I might get some rear ones, if nobody else comes up with an opinion in the next couple of hours.

Go for poly Jim, the extra life and tightening up of compliance in the suspension is worth it. No real noticable downside in terms of transmitted vibration. Go for Superflex bushes direct or as a friendly trader who can offer discounts.

Ah, the PM system seems to be working again...

I fitted full rear set of poly from ESM a couple of months ago, and lubricated them with white grease. No squeaks yet, or noticeable difference over rubber as far as I can tell

I fitted Superflex all round on the Midget - And it made a huge difference over the worn out old rubber bushes!

Everything feels that bit tighter and more responsive. My only concern was the top trunion/ arm bushes don't use the sleeve/ washer, just a plain stainless one so the bushes seem to deform around it. I intend to fit larger diameter washers when I find some as I'm not all that happy. Other than that though, they're great

I got mine direct from Chris Witor, as I was also buying a load for my Triumph at the same time.

I've just ordered some for the rear. I've have got some for the front too, but I only replaced those with cheaper poly ones a few months ago.

just put some poly bushes in the back of mine and they were really easy to do. even getting out the rubber ones was not that difficult, I think it was so easy because the rubber ones were really bad!

Unfortunately if you do use the modern rubber ones they dont last more than 5 minutes so Poly is the way to go.

well of course depending on where u bought them

Thats not good news! I was looking at getting a set and wondered how well they would fit!

The ones I got for there needed trimming for length - make unknown. bought at the National a couple of years ago

I guess i'll try the make that i have heard good things about then and see how there's fit!

get them from superflex, they are recommeneded on here by

the ones i bought from various morris minor places , have all been troublesome in so much they need cutting down, not good when u pay their prices
