Exhaust fitting question.

I have a new exhaust for the Trav, and I've been investigating the fitting kit provided and how it compares to the existing fittings.

I have two of these:

and two of these:

(and something which is obviously the manifold clamp).

Question is, how do they go together? The current exhaust has one of the clamps holding the strap to the tube. Fair enough, but I need one of the clamps to hold the two halves of the exhaust together.

Does this sort of strap use a jubilee clip to attach to the pipe? Is that acceptable?

As an aside, Wifey came out to the car this evening when she heard manic laughter issuing from underneath. The reason? The MoT man wasn't kidding when he said the exhaust was on the way out; I tried to turn one of the rearmost clamp nuts and nearly tore the end of the pipe off :-)

Jim, you can use this support strap with the same clamp used to hold the two lengths of pipe together. Just tuck the metal section under the u-bolt before tightening it up. The rubber strap needs to bolt through the floor. it curves through 90° to provide support without transmitting vibration into the floor.

OK. I thought the joint was further forward than either of the supports. With more time and light tomorrow I'll take another look.

I worked out how to connect the straps to the body.

In which case you would need another clamp. A jubilee clip would probably do, but for the cost of these clamps it's not really worth taking the chance.
