Hmm - a real 'how long is a piece of string' question :( Presumably no tax or MOT ( :D ), so I'd have said VERY low hundreds at best, but be aiming a bit lower. I've paid, I think, £300 for one with all the original bodywork, and one without a back is worth considerably less.

Heart breaking - maybe someone else here could take it? The £300 one is the one in my (current) sig pic, btw...

I thought that if you scrapped a car you had to pay the scrap people to take it away. Surely better for the seller to take whatever he can get for it.

When I scrapped my last car (a Volvo 440) a couple of years ago, the scrapyard paid me £50 for it and charged £20 to collect it using their tow truck. Someone I know recently got £50 with free collection for a Ford Mondeo (but he said there was £20 worth of fuel in the tank that he couldn't be bothered to try to extract).

I'm not sure why people do this thing of leaving a car to rot for years and then suddenly announce, "if nobody buys and collects it in the next two days it'll be scrapped."

If the pick-up istill for collection I am sure we have members near by who would be interested, please e-mail with the details?

Thanks

You want to move to Leicester - in the local paper every night are at least 7 adverts for scrap cars wanted with at least £30 paid on collection - most are offering £50 - £75+.

This may have changed but up till recently the Council were offering a free collection for scrap cars to stop them being dumped.
