Ring gear

After looking at my flywheel, i can see that the ring gear is nicely chewed. Someone has been giving the starter some abuse! But, i have a complete flywheel off an 803 engine, which has a very good ring gear. Now, can i just straight swap the flywheels, or are timing, balancing different? Or, can i swap ring gears, or does this have to be done professionally?
Thanks,
YG

Doubt you will get the ring off the 803 flywheel in one piece - so it's either new ring (fit to 948 flywheel using domestic oven) - or use the 803 fwheel. If it's identical in every way (clutch size/fixing bolt holes etc) then just use it!

Ill measure up the 803 flywheel tommorrow, are the timing marks etc on them exactly the same though?

Timing marks are not important - just check the clutch cover mounting holes.
