Im building up my new engine and i have got to the camshaft.

Its a kent 276 with a spider drive, I have a spider courtesy of BMCEcosse and a spider drive pump from minispares. The problem is that I have in the region of 2-3mm of endfloat (80-120thou)!!!!

It appears that the camshaft goes too far over the end of the oil pump, and could do with packing out (but im not too keen on this idea)

Anyone got any ideas how to sort it??

Cheers

Matt, Have you got the thrust plate and camshaft timing pulley fitted? The end float is controlled by these.

As Richard says - you must assemble the front end before judging the endfloat. But I did find over 1/8" float on a recent Mini build - the pulley was wrongly machined - simply took the 1/8" offthe pulley and all fine.
