I was applying another coat of Dutch Oil to the rear doors of my traveller and some of it dripped onto the metal bodywork of the door and solidified.

Does anyone have any ideas of how you go about removing it ???

Well white spirit is good at removing Dum Dum residue, but what I have been surprised at is what WD40 removes, I read an article on what it removed craton marks from soft floor tiles that type of thing I though I would give it a go with some dried on bitumen on some textured plastic and it came straight off after everything else I had tried didnt shift it.

What is dutch oil?

If its really an 'oil' would a bit of gentle heat help?
Hairdryer - not hot gun. Get it warm but not hot enough to lift the paint underneath.

If it's like Danish oil it has some varnish in it. I haven't yet figured out how to get it off without doing anything to the paint underneath.

Yeah, I'am always getting that wrong I ment of course Danish Oil instead.

That doesn't sound too good ??? Oh dear .... I'll give it a go with some stuff and hope for the best.

Let us know if you figure out a way to remove it without damaging the paint.

Actually I may have stumbled upon a solution. I was poking at it last night, and it now seems that the Danish Oil has solidified completely, where before it was sort of a soft varnish like consistancy. So basically I started scraping at it with my thumb nail of all things and it seems to come off quite well. It will of course need a rub or polish after I'am done, but it seems to work in the small area I tested, so we'll see later if it'll be a workable solution ??

try methalated spirit, it works with getting off french polish, and that is shellac based ( not the meths the french polish )
