Your speedo is calibrated to the original gearbox and diff ratios. The options are:
1. Get the speedo (someone did give Co. details for this job - but it may be beyond your pocket)

2. Change the gearbox and diff to 1098 spec.

3. Esablish how far out your speedo reads and remember/mark the real speed limits on the speedo face. 8)

I had a similar problem, bought a recon'd mileometer and a new speedo cable - sorted, mine was about 25mph out!
Hope that helps.

I think its about £30 to have the speedo recalibrated... you have a 948 box and which diff? if its a 4.55 get a bog standard 948 speedo and put that in, and that should be close enough :)

okay, did i mention that i have the early series II? i.e-speedo etc on the offside as opposed to being in the centre...i assume because of this i can't fit the 948 speedo? correct? and the axle/diff is the standard 803...please help!

Do a google for VDO, they will re-calibrate your existing speedo as long as you give them the correct gearbox/diff info for about £30 and have a very fast turn around.

thanks guys, looked at both, richfield seem like they would be nicer, the beauty of a friendly looking site, but they don't have the cost of recalibrating! which is pants!
