I've finally got Fenchurch back on the road after working long hours on her every night for the past few weeks. More details
over on my blog.
Next stop: a convention down in Leicester this weekend. If (hopefully when) she makes it there and back OK I can get preparing in earnest for the LEO.

Congratulations

I've been following progress. Must be good to have a helpful dad who knows what a spanner's for. Still more paint flatting joy to come

Thanks. There was a fair bit of dew last night and she misfired a bit until she'd warmed up. Better remember to take the WD40! I might have to put sorting the heater out a bit higher up the priority list too, but I'll try applying some anti-fog stuff to the windows first.

Car looks great! Glad to see him finished. Just out of interest, how does the finish look outside in natural light?

It needs a good clean - there's a fair bit of Dinitrol overspray and the rear side panels have Danish Oil stuck to them. I'll have to find some wax-free car shampoo.

I've got a timelapse recording from FenchurchCam of the whole time she was in the garage. When I get time I'll edit the more interesting bits together into a video.

I can't really relax yet because I've got a lot of preparation to do for LEO
And before that I've got less than a day left to prepare for a convention I'm running several programme items at...

that's fantastic, Alex, congratulations on a great job
clay would be good to get rid of contaminants on the paintwork, check out the
Detailing World forum for tips on shampoos etc
Looking forward to meeting Fenchurch at next year's National

A bit scary at first considering how long I've been confined to public transport apart from the odd few days with a rental car. The brakes are still a bit rubbish too because the new shoes haven't bedded in yet.

She had wing mirrors when I bought her but I couldn't see a thing in them, so I welded up the holes in the wings and bought some door mirrors. While the doors were off the car I used a picture of where somebody else fitted their mirror to decide where to drill the mounting holes, which worked fine for side I had a picture of, but it seems the other side needs to be in a different place. So she currently has a door mirror on the driver's side and a couple of wrongly-located holes in the passenger door.

Fenchurch made it to Leicester and back without missing a beat. The only hitch was discovering a couple of leaks during the torrential rain on the way down, which caused all the windows to mist up (she doesn't have a heater at the moment). Opening the back windows a bit allowed enough airflow to clear it up, but then it got so cold in the cabin that I could see my breath!
I need to update my signature... Right after I spend the next few hours catching up on all my email and stuff. Tomorrow I need to start preparing for the LEO in earnest.

That pic reminds me of Mr Bean - the opening credits when he appears to fall from heaven/space...
