how ot remove traveller rear door lock????

High everyone, I am in the process of replacing the rear doors on my traveller and need to remove the lock mechanism from the rear right hand door????? just cant get the thing off. I have removed everyscrew in sight but still nothing. The old door is knackered so not worried about damage just want to know how to do it properly.

Have you managed to get the handle off? The square bar can seize into the latch mechanism and prevent it coming apart.

nope havnt gotten the handle off yet. I will try some wd 40 tomoorow and hten a wee bit more force.

It should be just 3 screws, two into the wood on the outside and one into the end of the square bar on the inside. The handle should then 'just pull off'. As far as I know the lock barrel can't be replaced, you have to replace the whole handle.

well i tried tonight for about an hour or so to get the handle off but no joy!! I removed the pin in the handle, actually there was a small round one and a squarish one too. Took them both out and soaked it in wd and will try again tomorrow if I have time. Th new doors look great and are definately the best parts on the car!!!

Anyone know how to adjust the rear doors so that they fit slightly better. Once bolted on they dont come to the same height. hmmm anyhow.

Plus Gas works better then WD40, and if you're not worried about burning the wood you could try heating it up with a blowtorch.

I refitted Fenchurch's back doors tonight and they fitted perfectly first time :D They're just a bit stiff to shut because the new seals haven't squashed down properly yet.

One way of adjusting the height of the doors is to pack the hinges, between the hinge 'cup' and the brass 'ball-thing - (probably got a proper name - but you know what I mean).

A friend of mine needed to to this on his Traveler - and found that a thin metal washer could be 'dished' by pounding it into a piece of softwood with a big hammer and a large (scrap !) ball bearing. The newly-dished washer can then sit down in the cup of the hinge and raise the door - probably best to pack top & bottom hinges equally, to avoid straining them unequally. For more height, add more washers....

I guess, if you were handy with a lathe, you could turn up some new pieces of 'ball-shaped' brass to the right dimensions - but that's getting a bit 'clever' :D

yep this all helps loads guys. Sometimes i do come up with some wacky ideas up here on my own working away so it is always good to get advice!
I dont have any heat in my workshop so might have to take it to local engineer.
