I have followed Rob Jennings instructions on fitting a voltage regulator but the temp guage does not work at all unless I disconect the earth from the center pin, then the guage reads max no matter which way I connect power and sender. Can anyone help?
With just the ignition switch turned on 11.57v on output from regulator, with engine running 13.47v

in essance you CANNOT disconnect the centre pin as the regulator it cannot work if you do (and may be damaged) and so you are seeing the battery voltage
