waxolying.. which bits have I missed?

Post by picky »

about to do the waxoyl, obviously I want to be as thorough as possible. I cant seem to find a good diagram of all the points to try and reach, I feel like I will miss one small bit and it will go rusty

anyone got a good link? ive got the gearbox cover and the sill covers off at the moment which should make it easier.

Waxoyl

With the covers off you can use an extension to thoroughly treat the insides of the chassis legs. The basic idea is to coat all of the various boxed in sections such as sills, doors, inside the skin of the boot lid etc.
These should be done with the Waxoyl thinned out by being stood in hot water or the sun!! Remove one door hinge bolt from the A pillars and spray inside there. Items such as the petrol tank can be coated at any time due to their accessibility. Don't forget the box section under the rear seat. Personally I spray the underneath (mask the exhaust),and
drive for several weeks so that it gets a coating of road dust and then I spray it again. This results in a nice matt black coating which protects very well and only requires an annual brushing over the sections exposed to wear.

I'm hoping to get around to "Dinitroling" Fenchurch this afternoon. There's some more information on this thread about other places that could do with treating. I thought I'd seen a diagram showing all the treatment points a few months ago but I can't seem to find it now.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
