Indictor lamp/flasher prob's

MOT due soon so and the indicator light is not working ( new bulb and circuit ok). There is no power coming off the 3rd terminal on the flasher unit. I seem to remember there is a rewiring 'fix' on the indicator itself so that the power comes from the circuit lighting the indicator lamps. How does that work please? Vehicle is negative earth. - easily done as the B terminal is on the opposite side on the replacement. Indicator now works fine.
