Question for the brain's trust!

This week-end I replaced the old water pump (leaking onto the fan pulley & spraying water around!) with a new one.

The new one doen't leak onto the pulley - instead it appears to leak from the block/pump joint. This had a new gasket (rubber) bit still dribbles ...

I've added RadWeld - so far it's not stopped.
Any suggestions? (the obvious one of "take it off & replace the gasket again + gasket goo is just acceptable - I've taken the pump off twice! - once with the radiator in, once without!)

Unfortunately it sound like you have not got a good seal around the pump, so the ONLY real solution is to remove the pump and try again.

If it it did not seal properly then the surfaces were un-even. Did you remove ALL the old gasket? I usually use an old wood chisel to remove the old gasket and then sand the surface to shiney metal with emery cloth. I also use the blue 'goo' gasket sealant - a thin film all over (both sides) of the new gasket. If it still leaks after that then obviously one of the surfaces is not true. You can test for this by applying engineers blue or equivalent to the pump mating surface and see where it is not touching. If it is not too bad (and the problem is with the block) then you could always use two gaskets to take up the space.

It MUST be spotless - the gasket is not RUBBER - no need for any sealant. Fit a new bypass hose - solid wall type.

It's worth taking the radiator out, if you haven't already.
You get more room to work and can see if the surface is clean by peering through the grille.

Should I prepare all nuts with gt85 penetrating fluid? Then ease them up and more fluid? Solid wall type? Is the silicon hose recommended?
