Windscreen and rear screen removal

Hi all,

Unfortunately the rubber all around my windscreen and rearscreen is nicely perished and the windscreen needs replacing (thanks to someone not replacing the knackered wiper blades). Luckily the chrome trim around both screens is in perfect condition and i really dont want to damge it when removing the screens. Can the screens be removed and then replaced easily, or is it easier to call in someone to do it for you?

Thanks,
YG

Both screens are easily removed, fitting is harder though. Buy the top quality rubbers and get them nice and hot before re-fitting (in a bucket of hot water) and use some white grease/vaseline to aid fitting. The rear is a little trickier as it fits from inside and if you have the metal insert in the windscreen rubber it needs fiting before the screen goes in, the plastic insert goes in afterwards

Cut the old screens out with a Stanley Knife. Best to fit new ones on warm day - with sun shining on the car (and rubbers hot as above). Use wood or plastic 'levers' - do not use screwdriver - it will slip and either stab you or scrape the nice new paint - maybe both! DO NOT use washing up liquid as a 'lubricant'.

Washing up liquid contains salt so add water becomes mildly caustic and not good for steel!

Do they push out from the inside or the other way round?

Front pushes out from inside, rear pushes in from outside
