National - if the weather is bad....

Post by dp »

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade or dampen any spirits but given the recent bad weather, I thought I would kick off a thread for any tips to make camping in harsh weather more comfortable. I'll stick with the camping element but tips for extras to bring for our moggies could go here too....

(Duct tape for convertibles, damp start for the masses???)

Okay, I'm bringing:

An extra pack of pegs to double-peg the tent;
A tarp to act as a windbreak or sitting area but which can be thrown over the tent and pegged down if the rain is extreme;
Extra cord;
Full waterproofs;
couple of disposable lighters in case matches get soggy. (With waterproof matches, the striker stuff seems to fail quite quickly when wet.)

Cheers,

Darren

    If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

    Of course we will. We all camped in the pouring rain in November for the AGM and it was great fun :)

    never been a scout then dp :D I was a scout leader for 20yrs and did most of our camping in the Snowdonia area. Why do you think that most of the population of Wales use to be miners :wink: ( that's the driest place to be)

    I think I'm going to have to invest in a new tent sometime soon! Just half erected it in the back garden (half erected as the tent or should I say marquee is troo big for the garden!) and I found a load of little holes :cry: so out came the gaffer tape :lol: It'll hold for the national though. Looking forward to it now :D
