Just been lurking around on ebay and came across this, im surprised that this car has the sidevalwe engine.

It is a series MM

The Series II was introduced in 1953

If you look close you can see that it has the short bonnet, which tell that it is an early model with sidevalve engine.
On another picture you can see ( if you know what to look for ) the curved gearstick, this also tell that it is an early model.

I was unaware they made MM's with the "high light" wings. Just goes to show how far my knowledge stretches on such things!!

yep mm highlight from around 1951 - 1953ish. 4 door mms all came with highlight wings.

Lucky! There's something really nice about the high-light MMs, I like the combination of higher lights and the cheese grater. Especially on a two-door, though I don't know why. It just looks good.
Did they do any convertibles?

The Cheese grater grill looks better in my opinion as well. I'm a big fan of the original lowlight design, seems to fit better with the rest of the car......even though its the highlights which arguably give Moggies their distinctive look!

I would say my absolute favourite Moggy is the lowlight convertible, black and red especially looks very smart. Has anyone ever seen a cream and red one? That's my personal favourite colour combination in convertibles, but I've never seen a lowlight in that scheme...

There was a red one with a cream hood about (RVW178) that was used for the "Morris Minor and the Majors" single cover many years ago and features on the front cover of the wonderful Series MM Super Profile book written by our very own Ray Newell!

My lowlight convertible is as pictured below!

Altogether, though, it's a nice car... Wouldn't mind something like that. WPR678B, no chance you might be selling yours?

Just joking, I know a car like that usually sticks around a while... You're a lucky person. I'll keep looking, hopefully find one closer to home, but if not at least find one cheap enough for shipping. Ah, shipping...

Sorry, not for sale i'm afraid! I was very lucky to get this one and i use it as often as possible (when the weather allows, which at the moment is not that often!

) and i do intend to try and give it the coat of paint it deserves this year if time and money allow as that is all that lets it down!

It has never been welded anywhere so is quite a rare beast!

Whereabouts in the USA are you out of interest?

Oh, I'm in Princeton, New Jersey, near New York. It's a nice area... One of the few in Jersey, it must be said.
I didn't really think you'd sell, but hey, it was worth a try!

You've got a very nice car there, I know I wouldn't sell in your position. And never welded? Now that's impressive! It is true a quick slather of paint wouldn't go amiss, though- unusual finish at the moment...

It has been hand painted in the lovely

colour you see! The front wing has had a knock and been filled and primed of sorts. I haven't even washed it since i've had it (2 years) as it gets a lot of attention looking like it is!

It could at least have been painted with a nice landscape, or something, if the artist was going for the hand-painted approach!

No welding vs. no washing: it evens out in the end! The way you say "of sorts" implies that the filling wasn't exactly an oil painting either?..
