fuel pump

just fitted new points into a pump i found in my box of bits.

new diaphram on back order at mo.

right problem is i always thought they clicked like mad until they were full of fuel?

this one clicks as soon as u put power to it but only once.(using a booster pack for power so plenty there and a good earth)

if u pull the top points off slightly it clicks away happily.

is there a fault somewhere i've done wrong is it it shot inside

I think the points gap might need adjusting. The workshop manual describes how (page B.5).

read the chapter in detail it was over the pasge in the haynes lol

it said press in the middle and gently bend the spring until it just clears it.

crude but worked a treat.

Never replaced a diaphragm in all my years - and I have some very old pumps - all working fine!
