Hi, Does anyone know of any AutoJumbles that are coming up soon? Preferably near cheltenham?

I cant seem to find anywhere on the internet that tells you of this type of event?

Called ebay these days. It's killed the autojumbles, anything worthwhile is now flogged on the 'bay. Pratical Classics usually has lists of jumbles and shows.

Ebay has killed the 2nd hand market for everything. Gone are the days when you could get a carb for a fiver... some muppet on ebay will pay £20 for it instead. You cant blame the sellers for wanting easy money.

I disagree - eBay has reinvigorated the second hand market. Lots of eBay sellers aren't the kind of people who would have ever bothered to run a stall at an autojumble anyway - without eBay they would have thrown the parts away instead of selling them. The value is controlled by supply and demand. If an item is in short supply and lots of people want one, it will sell for a decent price.

Like Alex I think ebay has stimulated the market and helps.

what does not help is the number of auto jumbles that I have been to which consist of the white van man with a bunch of knock off import rubbish, must of it not even car parts.....

you can buy: polish, sponges, tools of poor quality, t-shirts, mugs, caps, metal signs, toys.... anything is seem but useful items like spark plugs, oil, filters, and no real jumble items i.e. bits taken off scrap cars that 'money can't buy' light fittings, trim fittings, etc

I've given up attend auto jumbles for that reason, although one car show I went to eairlier in the year did have real jumble stalls! I would go by word of mouth rather than any advertising or mailing lists. can be a long way to go for nothing.

Other snag is that previous 'jumblers are now scanning ebay and snapping up goods sold on by 'lay' sellers - and then puffing them up - and selling on at much higher prices. There are ebay bargains to be had - but usually only if you can collect in person and not pay hugh (often inflated) postal charges

Well Luton festival of transport still has a reasonable amount and Enfield Pageant of Motoring has a huge one that takes a couple of hours to get around.

I went to the Beaulieu spring autojumble this year and wasn't greatly impressed. There were hundreds of stalls selling the same classic spotlights and various lenses at the same exorbitant prices, and very few stalls with actual jumble. Many traders were asking the same if not more for stuff than it can be had from online traders.

Maybe it was poor because it has such a great reputation the traders don't feel a need to try any more (the number of different foreign accents was incredible, and if you've travelled across time zones you're probably less willing to go home empty handed), but it put me off bothering again. I'm going to try a couple of smaller autojumbles if any pop up locally to see if it was indeed a case of reputation equals inflated prices, but maybe people are right and Evilbay has taken over the market (and pushed up prices thanks to numpty buyers).

Tell me where else you can buy 2 good condition working su fuel pumps for £4 the pair ones been on the Moggy for 4 years now.. Just bought a good working gearbox for £15 off a regular seller, though i'd keep a spare

well if it was not for ebay, i would not be able to get some of the new old stock stuff
so a big hoooray for ebay it suits me

At an autojumble you get a real atmosphere, You're all there sifting though everyones junk finding all sorts of magical classic bits that amaze and interest you.

Its a fun day out and there is often cars/steam engines on display!

yes agreed, but wings are not at auto jumbles, and at least on ebay every one gets a chance at the item
unlike an auto jumble, its the one that gets there early or first, bit like a bootsale
at least on ebay you can see it all

A good auto-jumble (or car boot sale) can be fun, but if you need a specific part then you've probably got a better chance of finding it on eBay.

I think they both have a part to play, most of the shows I attend have autojumble etc; as part of the show.

I see loads of used & new/old stock wings, doors etc; at the shows, there was even a bloke last year took a Moggy saloon on a trailer to one of the auto/shows and let people take off what they wanted, afraid I couldn't be bothered doing something like that, I go to enjoy myself mind, there was loads of people stripping parts off I suppose it's one way of making money without the work

unfortunately the autojumbles round my way, well withing sensible driving distance, just sell new tools, etc, no real auto jumble

also i have commercials and not many 4 doors doors come up
