well bought some new rubber rear shackle bushes .
it seemed i had to cut them down in length to fit also the rear spring ones.
these were not poly bushes
has any one elde come across this.

about time we had a list of some of these parts that need fettling
but they should fit straight on

Same here with poly tie bar bushes.

now this may seem daft i know.
but i would have thought that the manufacturers should be able to get this right

or am i of course asking to much

i bought a metal vacuuam advance tube the other day, and guess what it did not fit, the front end was to short and the end from the dizzy to the thermostat was so long

i did complain and was told ` ah yes these are for an mgb`
now if i was told at the time i would not have bought it

really getting cheesed off with buying new parts and find they dont fit
our hard earned pennies and the the only winners i can see are the morris minor specialist shops

oh boy when will it be right

makes me wonder why i bother to try and restore my van when the time comes.

I bought a full set of Superflex for the Midget, and they've fitted perfectly! "Half" bushes (shackle, wishbones etc where there's two halves) have been the perfect size and came with stainless tubes where required. Some of the job was a pain through the design of the car, but the bushes themselves were exactly as they should be. I know they're expensive, not as pliable as rubber (certainly not as soft as what came off anyway!), not oringinal etc, but I reckon it's worth the extra just for something that fits as it should, never mind the other benefits!

I know some will say you get what you pay for (and my above probably does) but I do agree that when it comes to a bit of rubber erally even the cheapest should fit properly though.

Same with the front poly bushes on the rear spring, now I think of it...

Totally agree, no excuse for poorly sized or produced parts. As Packed up states the Superflex ones are very good and constant, which is why this make is the only one we stock. Trouble is that suppliers are struggling to keep manufacturers interested in producing what are 'limited run' products. So they borrow from other marques, which might seem similar but in reality are far from it. For suppliers to re commission the making of bushes etc the outlay far outweighs the returns of sales unless taken over a long period of payback time. An example of this was our sunvisor clips, a simple looking item but requiring £500 plus in tooling, payback time with moderate sales will take over 5 years to achieve.

Only ones that didn't on the Midget were the anti roll bar ones. And that was because I seem to have ordered the 11/16 when I've got a 9/16 bar!
The rest of them went on perfectly (did the rear axle last weekend, was beyond easy going).

Also got a full set to fit to my Triumph, already fitted the front subframe ones with no issues at all, and trial fitted one of the pairs for part of the rear axle mounting. And a Triumph 2000 I had got a couple of Superflex bits when I saw the price of OEM style rubber, no problems with the fit there either!

Not fitted them to a Minor, but so far my experience has been the bushes do what they say on the packet, and the supplier I use is extremely helpful (never had a problem with the bushes, only my ordering skills)

Not that you should have to fork out for poly just to avoid poor fitting, but on the plus side they should last longer than rubber ones, so sort of justify the cost...
