Fule proof paint

When I cleaned out the float bowl on the SU this am I spilt some petrol on the tie plate on the floor of the engine bay and sisolved some of the paint. What paint is fuel proof please? Thanks, John

I would think any properly cured paint would resist a petrol splash better than that! Had someone undersealed the inside of the tie plates??? Are you sure the petrol didn't just clean off old dirt and oil on the tie plates??

Fule proof paint - that would be good.

I used Hamerite primer under 2 pack in the same place and spilt petrol has lifted it as well. I'm sure the 2 pack is ok so it must be the Hamerite I'm going to sand it down and repaint with 2 pack.

I've had fuel splashed all over my engine bay and inner wings before.
Never damaged the paint though. Similarly I've had it leak out from the filler neck on hard cornering, all it does is stain a little.

Most of mine is painted in either Japlac or repaint or hammerite...it varies depending on what I had left at the time. :lol: :lol:
