I finally bit the bullet and bought a licence for WinSU.

Its the best £9.99 I've ever spent!

Just bought and fitted its recommended 'ADK' needle and WOW. The car just flies. Nothing stops it.
Will seemingly rev all the way into the red in every gear, pulling like a train!
2nd and third gear acceleration is proper seat-pinning stuff.

Finally I'm getting the performance I dreamed of when fitting the MG lump.
Originally I bought an ABB needle based purely on the logic that 1275 minis use them.
I used to have to change up quicker than I'd like as he'd start starving or bogging down at high revs. There's none of that now!

So, ladies, gentlemen - check your needles, you'd be surprised. (or at least I was, most of you lot are probably pros now )

well im sure you have compared the needles anyway, but the ABB is a lot leaner from about 1/3rd of the way up the rev range! Not suprised you have noticed a difference

i am also a fan of winsu, i bought version 1 ages ago and have seen it develop into a very useful tool. it doesnt do forced induction yet though

Ideally people would do their specs in their own version of WinSU and send me the 'project' file, save me having to type stuff in but either way is do-able.

Of course whether this is 'right' is another question although tbh I think if the licenses were even cheaper more folk would pay for them.

i dont think it is right, its only £10!! and if you get it yourself you can create a virtual engine spec and modify it, and see how the estimated BHP readouts change.

Yes, it is very good for tuning, in a theoretical sense.
You can try different needles and see how it changes the torque curve..etc..
However, WinSU is not the chaps only source of income. He wont starve if a few people 'take the Michael' although he does actively work on it and spend time developing it.
Personally I thought it was worth the tenner given the resultant difference its made.
