Hi,

Does anyone know the correct size of bifuricated rivets used for fixing the parcel shelf to the bulk head?

Thanks
Mick

Dont know about the rivits, but I used small brass round head screws and nuts.

Funny enough I did that job today as well. And I am still sore from pushing my large frame under the dashboard!

I used those little black plastic clips that you push a pin into to secure them. They are available from car accessory shops.
This sort of thing;

The shelf seems secure, but if it comes loose I will use nuts and bolts.

Thank you for you replies.
I reckon the way forward should be nuts and bolts, I'm thinking this would mean a two person job though. Looks like the misses will be getting her hands dirty again. :P

If you want to save your wife's hands you could try what I did (alone). Use nuts and bolts but before fitting the shelf tighten a nut on the bolt to attach the bolts into the holes in the firewall. I found this made it a lot easier to fit the shelf to bolts that are all there already and don't move.

I started down that route last week but gave up (and got on with another job) when I realised I could only get at the two outermost holes from the front. How did you access the others Roni?

Fat self tappers do the job too, along with some big washers.
I used the ones normally used to hold thr door trim handles on mk1/2 fiestas. :lol:
Now I have a wooden shelf thats supported either end I dont fix it at the back at all. 8)

I dont seem to recall a problem getting to the holes but I had better look first to remind myself how it all happened. Only problem with that is it is dark outside at the moment.
